It’s very possible that Memphis Political Boss E.H. Crump and musician and composer W.C. Handy met during their life time but what is unlikely is  the way artist Carroll Cloar depicts the historic encounter between the two city giants and famous citizens in front of the Old Daisy Theater. Through the imagination and talents of Cloar, the encounter included President of Southwestern (Now Rhodes College Dr. Charles Diehl, Mayor Watkins Overton, Shifty Logan, Clarence Sanders, George Washington Lee, Senator Kenneth McKellar, Reporter for the Press Scimitar writer Clark Porteus, local street personality Monk Cassata, Handy and Crump .
